After 6+ Months

Used as my primary travel charger for 14 months across Steam Deck, ROG Ally X, MacBook Pro 14, and iPad Pro. Charges Deck at full 45W (when 65W is requested) and Ally X at full 65W. No heat issues, no degradation. Roughly 1/3 the size and weight of typical 65W chargers. The foldable prongs make it backpack-friendly.

Why GaN

GaN (gallium nitride) chargers are smaller, lighter, and run cooler than traditional silicon chargers at the same wattage. For travel use, this is a meaningful difference — 65W GaN chargers are typically 1/3 the volume of equivalent silicon chargers.

The trade-off used to be reliability, but GaN III technology has matured to where it's no longer a concern.

Why this specific charger

Anker, Ugreen, and Baseus all make excellent 65W GaN chargers. Picked Baseus because:

  • Slightly cheaper than Anker Nano
  • More reliable than budget Amazon brands
  • Foldable prongs (some Ugreen models have fixed prongs)
  • Available in dual-port version if you need to charge phone + Deck simultaneously

For most users this is "buy and forget" — works with everything, lasts years, doesn't take up space.
